The University of Economics in Prague has awarded former Ifo Institute President Hans-Werner Sinn an honorary doctorate.
The university’s Rector Hana Machková paid tribute to Sinn as one of the leading lights in German economics. Laudator Miroslav Sevcik said that Sinn has been awarded the doctorate for his lifetime achievements as a theoretical researcher, which subsequently led on to his policy-oriented work. Sinn’s research has gained international recognition far beyond Germany’s borders. The award was presented at a ceremony attended by faculty members in their gowns and other public dignitaries. Sinn has already received honorary doctorates from the universities of Helsinki and Magdeburg, as well as from the Leipzig Graduate School of Management.
